Since the global launch of Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, many people are trying to figure out which device provides the best performance when playing the pocket-sized version of Activision’s epic Battle Royale game. Luckily, we’ve done the legwork so you don’t have to!

Early issues with Android phones

Many people have had problems running Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile on Android phones so far. The publishers Activision are working diligently to try to resolve the issues, and they’ve already released patches that have slightly improved and stabilised performance on some handsets, but there’s still work to be done.

Once they’ve made some more tweaks over the next couple of months, high-end Android gaming phones (like the Nubia RedMagic 9 Pro, the Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro, the Galaxy S24 Ultra and the Black Shark 5 Pro), could end up close to the top of the pile, but as it stands, in terms of consistency and reliability; Apple handsets are the best option. With that in mind…

What’s the best phone for Warzone Mobile?

iPhone 16 Pro Max

If you want the absolute best performance possible on Warzone Mobile, look no further than the iPhone 16 Pro Max. It’s an absolute beast of a gaming device.

This is mainly down to its advanced A18 Processor. The sheer power of this chipset is mind-boggling and delivers an incredible gameplay experience.

If you squint a little, you might even mistake gameplay footage for last-generation consoles, with framerates that outstrip even the PS4 (although admittedly, the detail isn’t quite as impressive).

How they’ve managed to pack so much incredible graphical tech into this tiny handset, I’ll never know. Just check out this YouTube footage of iPhone 16 Pro Max gameplay on Rebirth Island and you’ll see what I mean!

The iPhone 16 Pro Max is capable of Ray Tracing, which enables dynamic lighting (handling detailed light particles and shadows effortlessly). MetalFX Upscaling also helps boost visual clarity, so things look extremely sharp, even with the graphics settings maxed out.

It’s also got a long-lasting and efficient battery, which is a must when you’re playing graphically intensive games like Warzone.

These features, coupled with its excellent connectivity and its speedy, simple compatibility with third-party controllers make it the best choice for playing Warzone on a phone in 2024.

Which other phones are worth considering?

All other versions of the iPhone 16 deliver excellent performance, though the Pro Max does have slightly more oomph than the standard and Pro versions.

It's worth noting that the iPhone 15 is also an excellent choice and among the top options for gaming mobiles. It's also a little less expensive than the 16, so could be the best option for you if you're looking to save some money.

Also, the iPhone 14 and 13 ranges are still near the top of the list too, but you may experience a slight decrease in visual clarity and framerates compared to the 15 and 16.

If you are on a tighter budget, previous generations of iPhones like the 12, 11 and X will still give you an impressive gaming experience; but one older device that many people have noted is punching above its weight is the iPhone XR.

Somehow, despite being over 5 years old, it delivers a relatively responsive and clean visual experience. It’s hard to find new iPhone XRs, but you can find refurbished handsets for under £200! Buy with care though, as it’s no longer being supported with system updates.

What’s the best tablet for Warzone Mobile?

iPad Pro (2022)

There’s an obvious advantage when using a tablet rather than a phone to play Warzone, as it’s far easier to see what’s happening on a bigger screen – and if you want the best tablet for Warzone Mobile, the iPad Pro (2022) is the standout performer in 2024.

The M2 chipset is capable of high-end performance, delivering smooth, detailed visuals to ensure you can see everything extremely clearly when you’re in the heat of battle.

The power of the processor is complemented by the amazing Liquid Retina Display, which delivers excellent clarity and the highest possible framerates, meaning you won’t miss a single second or detail of the action.

It also has excellent connectivity and a great battery, so you’ll experience fewer latency issues and it won’t run out of juice quickly.

One thing to note; rumour has it that the new iPad Pro (2024 version) is set to be announced very soon, and that will likely be a big step up from the previous version (judging by how Apple has leant heavily into gaming upgrades with their phones in recent years), so, if you really want the best possible gaming experience on a tablet, it might be worth waiting a couple of months.

Which other tablets are worth considering?

The iPad Air (2022) is not as powerful as the iPad Pro, but it still delivers great visuals, long battery life and a clean gameplay experience – so it’s a great option.

As with the phones, many people are having problems with Android-powered tablets, so it’s harder to recommend them at the moment - but we suspect that once the issues are ironed out, the Asus ROG Flow Z13 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 will be able to compete with the most recent Apple devices.
